Is there an age limit for the teams?
Anyone from the age of 18 and over can join a team. The teams are of mixed gender.
Do I need to have a specific skill or qualification or previous experience to be accepted?
No. Our team meetings give ample opportunity for preparation and training for the project that you will visit. We have skilled people allocated to each team, to ensure this training is carried out effectively, and that you are fully prepared before you go. The work is very basic – nothing that can’t be picked up easily.
What type of work is involved?
Our teams are divided into 3 areas: Childrens Work, Ministry and Practical Work.
School Teams
Children’s work involves classroom participation - doing activities with children such as:
- Crafts/art work
- English/maths etc.
- Sports/games
- There are also holiday bible club activities such as: story telling, quizzes, music, drama, etc.
Ministry Teams
These involve various areas of work that you can get involved in. Such as prayer support, teaching, preaching, music, drama, dance, creative arts, etc.
Practical Teams
These go in January and involve building work, joinery (desk making for schools), stove making etc. The work done on the

To apply for a place on an Ignite Team
Every year we have a ‘team information night’ in February. This is to give anyone interested in going on a team the opportunity to hear about the projects, what the teams involved, and all practical information such as our dates, costs etc.
Note. There is no obligation to join a team if you come to the information night.
If you do apply – we will ask you to fill in an application form, a medical form, and we will also need two references (that are satisfactory) before you will be guaranteed a place on a team.
